Below you will find a quick update on what is happening in the legislature.
First, I want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for the emails, phone calls, and dedication to our state and local community. It means a lot to hear from you as my constituents, because it allows me to better represent you in Concord. Our dialogue goes a long way in making real change for our state.
To my friends in Milford: thank you for electing me to another term as your selectman earlier this month. By representing you on the select board, it gives me a unique insider’s view as to how state-level policy is directly effecting our towns. This all enables me to be the best public servant I can be, at both the state and local level. Thank you for once again entrusting me with this honor.
As always, I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Gary
What to Watch For
Happy 275th Birthday, Merrimack!
On Friday, April 9th, we will be celebrating Merrimack’s 275th birthday.
We will be meeting at Abbie Griffin Park across from Town Hall at 3:30pm. I have the distinct honor of presenting the State Senate proclamation. I hope to see you there!
PFAS Commission: Commission on the Environmental Public Health Impacts of Perfluorinated Chemicals
On the campaign trail, I made a promise to all of you that I would work to find a solution on the PFAS contamination in Merrimack’s water supply. I am working to make good on that promise, as I was recently named as a member of the bipartisan PFAS Commission to finally bring some resolve to this crisis.
I will continue to update all of you on our findings on this commission. Transparency, honesty, and accountability is key. I encourage you to follow me on Facebook, where I will be posting more regularly to keep all of you updated.
Our State Budget
As Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, I have been working with House and Senate leadership to ensure that your tax dollars are put to fair use in our upcoming fiscal year. The pandemic has certainly made this upcoming budget more interesting, but I am confident that we can fire up our economy once again. In the next few weeks, the House will be sending its version of the state budget to the Senate. On April 12th, the Senate Finance Committee will begin hearing presentations from government departments and agencies regarding their needs for funding. I will post updates on social media in an effort to provide more transparency on where tax dollars will be put to use.
