Gary Daniels as \u2018Defender of Liberty\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;DEFENDER OF LIBERTY.\u2019 The conservative free-market group Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire will honor three-term state Sen. Gary Daniels of Milford with its highest award later this month.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels, chair of the state Senate Finance Committee, will receive the group\u2019s Tom Thomson Defender of Liberty Award, named after the AFP-NH\u2019s honorary chair and son of conservative anti-tax former Gov. Meldrim Thomson, Jr.<\/p>\n<p>The award will be presented at AFP-NH\u2019s annual Christmas Party on Dec. 14 at the Backyard Brewery in Manchester. The group\u2019s annual legislative scorecard will be released and additional awards will be given to lawmakers who achieved high scores in voting for fiscally conservative legislation.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free but RSVPs are required.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels, in addition to chairing the influential Senate Finance Committee, also serves on the Senate Ways and Means, Capital Budget and Rules committees.<\/p>\n<p>A former member of the New Hampshire House, Daniels is a veteran of the U.S. Army, the New Hampshire Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>A resident of Milford for more than 50 years, Daniels is a member of the Milford Board of Selectmen and a former member of the town\u2019s school board.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thomson said Daniels, in his leadership role, \u201ccrafted the most liberty-friendly state budget in years. The budget lowers taxes for every Granite Stater, expands educational opportunities for New Hampshire families and right-sizes state government in a way that respects hard-working taxpayers. Gary has been a true champion for limited government and expanded liberty for years.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AFP-NH state director Greg Moore said, \u201cWhile we\u2019re recognizing Senator Daniels\u2019 work for 2021, Gary has had a distinguished legislative career in as a leader in advancing liberty. His work in the House and Senate has led to numerous changes that have removed barriers for Granite Staters. He is a true champion, and we are grateful of all his accomplishments through the years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniels said, \u201cEach day I go to the State House, I do so with the goal of keeping our state motto of \u2018Live Free or Die\u2019 emblematic of the New Hampshire way of life. This award recognizes the efforts my colleagues and I have taken to give New Hampshire one of the lowest unemployment rates and the lowest poverty rate in the country, and, according to U.S. and World Report, has made New Hampshire one of the most livable states in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur efforts to keep taxes low, keep the economy growing and unlock the potential for businesses and individuals to dream and succeed is what freedom and leadership are all about,\u201d Daniels said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NH Primary Source: AFP-NH to honor state Sen.
